Johnson Luu-Tay Kuo, 67, of Poughkeepsie, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Westchester Medical Center.
Mr. Kuo was the founder and president of Kingsgate Realty in Poughkeepsie and over his 34-year career established a reputation in Dutchess County as an honest and sincere real estate professional. He also worked for 21 years at IBM in Poughkeepsie as an engineer. In addition, he served as an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Management at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.
Mr. Kuo was a man who loved life and embraced every moment with his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to classical music, singing, and playing Wei Chi (or Go).
Born April 7, 1939, in China, he was the son of the late Chun-Tien and Hsin-Yu Kuo. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 1961, a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1968, an MBA degree from Union College in Schenectady in 1975, and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 1983.
On July 24, 1966, he married his soul mate, Anne.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a sister, Lily Lu-Mei Lee, and her husband, Hsuan Lee; a daughter, Mary, and her husband, Allen Chu; two sons, Louis and his wife, Jessica, and Theodore and his wife, Ningning; and three grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, and Nicholas Chu. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
